Jack In The Box was first performed at Woodlands School in Basildon, Essex, UK, on 25th April 2000.
Jack In The Box tells the story of a young Irish penniless prostitute named Mary Kelly who settles down in Whitechapel London in the late 1880's. From her arrival in London, the show follows her through her rocky relationship with lover Joe Barnett, to her contempt for the heavy handed pimps who exploit her, through to her brutal death at the hands of Jack the Ripper.
Originally written as an amateur production for the local community, the show has been extensively overhauled for the professional stage, and will be showcased before Londons top producers and directors in West Ends Leicester Square, early 2008.
The new show contains 4 brand new songs, which will replace Lamplighter and Life Is Mine, but these 2 songs have been captured on the new DVD which is now available, which contains the perfomance in its entirety, plus some extras.
